IT'S not looking good for PKR. In fact it has been sour and bitter since some weeks ago, thus putting into question the leadership of its de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
From former Penang Deputy CM Fairus Khairuddin to Bayan Baru MP Zahrain Mohamad Hashim, Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng and now its former secretary-general Salehuddin Hashim. Fairus has joined Umno, Tan and Zahrain remain as independent MPs while my friend Saleh calls himself a retired politician.
PKR deputy president Syed Husin hasn't been complimentary on Fairus and Zahrain. I'm curious as to what he has to say about Saleh's decision to abandon the party. Surely Syed cannot put Saleh in the same boat as the two.
Abdul Malik Kassim, another PKR man from Penang, has also called Fairus a sleepy head while he was a DCM. But why talk about it now?
The other point I cannot understand about PKR is why it must ask Tan not to sue Penang's Dap CM Lim Guan Eng over what is essentially a personal matter, as rightly put by Tan. This coming from a party that claims to believe in freedom of everything.
Thus far the resignations are not going to significantly affect the political equation in PKR but a few more surely will and create a dent in Anwar's ego.
Anwar trued to correct the situation and win over some sympathy by apologising at a Chinese New Year event over the choice of candidates by the party in the last general elections almost two years ago. I saw him saying so on TV and he didn't look convincing at all, the apology said rather casually and with Anwar smiling his ever charming smile. He didn't look and sound serious.
WHAT SLOVAKIAN LEAGUE?
I SAW on TV3 last night the first game by our national Under-21 team in what we are told is the Slovakia Division One. Something is not quite right.
There was hardly anyone watching that game played at a venue not too dissimilar from our kampung or small town football ground. Slovakia may not be amongst the world's strongest footballing nation but surely what we saw cannot be a game in its first division.
I think the FAM has a lot to tell us about which competition our boys are truly playing in. Something is wrong somewhere.
