MOST FAMOUS STADIUM, BEST LEAGUE..., ..AND BEST OF ALL, BEST FLOP

I NEVER get tired of telling people that the problem with England when it comes to sports is that they believe too much in their own hype. If they are to be believed, there's not much that they are not the best at.

IN football it's about having the best striker, the best attacking midfielder, best centre-back, best knockout competition and best league. And we Malaysians, and I may be repeating myself here, tend to get dragged in because most of what we see on our TV is the EPL two days a week for close to two months. Add the later rounds of the FA Cup and its a massive overdose of English soccer.

As it turned out the best England had to show came out worse than second best at the Fifa World Cup in South Africa, which means that they are back for an early summer holiday while the best of the best stay on to play in the closing rounds beginning tomorrow.

Only three goals scored in three matches. Big names like Rooney, but with the exception of maybe Lampard, a complete flop.

The bigger picture is not much better, with the non-English high profile players from the EPL teams playing also well below expectations. For this read Torres especially. Ironically the "rejects" from the EPL have been excellent so far. Remember Robinho and Elano? Veron too.

I'm looking forward to more sublime football from Brazil and Argentina while fans of the EPL teams and England can dream on.........
